Democrat Heather Beaven, a Navy vet who is running against incumbent U.S. Rep. John Mica, released a poll Wednesday that shows momentum for her leading up to the Nov. 2 general election...After moderate message testing, Beaven had the lead: 47-43-10.
As far as election-year publicity moves go, this one’s not bad. Heather Beaven, the Democrat waging a long-shot bid to oust firmly entrenched U.S. Rep. John Mica, R-Winter Park, is going to Louisiana to volunteer for oil-spill clean-up duty, and using the opportunity to hammer her opponent for his oil-industry ties...
"Obama Oil Spill" Becomes Political Issue for FL Race
Interesting developments in the 7th Congressional district, where incumbent Republican Congressman John Mica is facing a challenge from Democrat Heather Beaven. From his perch on the the House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Mica said in a hearing on Wednesday that the Obama administration is to blame for oil spill in the Gulf...
Beaven hopes oil spill will tar Mica
The Gulf of Mexico oil spill may be ultimately disastrous for Florida beaches, but the oil-well blowout could be a boon for long-shot congressional candidate Heather Beaven, a Democrat taking on nine-term U.S. Rep. John Mica, R- Winter Park...
Tough talk on oil spill put Mica's opponent on war path
U.S. Rep. John Mica, the Republican leader on the House Transporation and Infrastructure committee, has in so many words blamed the Obama Administration for an April 20 rig explosion that continues spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico...Enter Heather Beaven, the Navy vet who's running against Mica in November's general election.
The Best Of Us, Not A Political Insider
A few days ago I interviewed Florida Democratic candidate Heather Beaven on behalf of Blue America. She was sharp and savvy, outspoken and principled. But something that stuck with me was how she responded to the question about campaign finance reform. She peeled back the onion by another layer.
Beaven picks up vets support against Mica
Meet Heather Beaven. She's a Democrat gathering some steam in the race against incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. John Mica.
Rabbi unites pastors with area politicians
Merrill Shapiro's a rabbi with a cause -- a Tallahassee cause, that is. The outspoken spiritual leader at Temple Beth Shalom in Palm Coast has made it his business to connect local liberal pastors with politicians and would-be representatives...And he set his sights on Heather Beaven, a Democratic U.S. House of Representatives candidate running against Republican incumbent John Mica of Winter Park in November for a shot at Florida's 7th District.
